Conventional Golf Carts were meant just for Golf Players. But in this modern era these vehicles are being used by almost every category of people. They are very demanding due to their ease of use and eco-friendly operation.

Golf carts are very silent operating vehicles. They are used in places where silence has to be maintained at all times. They are also used by many disabled people who feel that carts are much more advantageous than the battery powered wheelchairs.

Golf Carts are battery powered vehicles. They use rechargeable heavy duty batteries. On a single charge they can travel up to 70 to 100 kilometers. They are very economical when compared to gasoline powered vehicles. The cost per distance of travelling is only 1/10th of that of their counterparts. Maintaining these carts are also easy as they use very simple technology and the parts are very cheap too.

Most of them are not legal to be driven in the streets. It needs some modifications to be made street legal. However, they are being used a lot in resorts, shopping malls, retirement communities, university campuses etc. The slow speed of these vehicles helps to avoid any accidents that occur due to rash driving.

As time pass by Golf carts are getting much more developed. A lot of extra modifications can be done that make the cart luxurious. Custom made alloy wheels, leather seats, roofing and enclosure, air conditioning, high pounding music system, power steering, automated stability control, GPS etc make the cart a revolutionary product.

Even though much companies do not manufacture Golf Carts, the demand for these vehicles keep increasing. Some of the top manufactures are Club Car, Cushman, Daihatsu, and E-Z Go.

Some of the well known modification that can be done to a Golf Cart is to add the lift kits which gives the cart a better clearance from the ground. Off road tires and a heavy duty suspension system add strength to the cart. A modified engine gives the cart a muscle to conquer steep slopes and dirt road. Such a type of modified vehicle is known as off road buggies.
